Established in 1882, George H. Walker & Co. was known as a publisher and lithographer in Boston, Massachusetts. Beyond decorative bird’s eye views of notable destination around Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, George H. Walker & Co. also produced engravings and photo-lithographs of maps, portraits, sheet music and book illustrations.
Designed as a promotional piece, this 1906 Bird’s Eye View of Casco Bay was commissioned by the Maine Central Railroad, and features steamer routes connecting the islands of Casco Bay. This beautifully illustrative view is a favorite among Mainers.
