Traveling Library of Maine

This traveling library was rescued from the trash heap, cleaned up, and researched. And what was revealed was some mystery and intrigue.

There is very little documentation about Maine’s traveling libraries specifically, but what we do know is, there were a lot of brave American women of the Depression Era who went to great lengths and hardship, via horseback, to deliver books to rural residents.
